Rehabilitation of a 6-level parking garage, including two stories of street-facing retail spaces, in downtown Boulder to repair deteriorating structural elements and increase building longevity and safety. Select original building envelope components were replaced to increase thermal efficiency and decrease maintenance needs. Gas-fired HVAC systems for the retail spaces were replaced with modern electric-only systems to meet Boulder’s climate goals. The entire lighting system for the garage was redesigned for pedestrian safety and energy efficiency using LED fixtures. Weather enclosures were designed for open pedestrian walkways and stairs to increase safety and decrease ongoing maintenance.
