Mountain Dining Hall Renovation

Full remodel and rehabilitation of 2,000 SF historic log cabin used as a dining hall and meeting space. Originally constructed in 1922, on the University of Colorado Mountain Research Station campus, the dining hall and research facilities were closed to students during World War II and were used as a rest base and recreational facility by the US Army. Following World War II, the facilities were opened to students again, with the last renovation occurring in 1990. Rehabilitation of existing foundations and roofs, new “alpine aesthetic” deck and accessible ramp enhanced the log cabin exterior, while a new commercial kitchen and seating area with flexible serving line anchored the building’s interior. Two new restrooms on the first level serve students during mealtime, with controlled after-hours access to the restrooms and a water bottle filler station only.
